Situated on the shores of the Uembje Lagoon 188km north of Maputo is the holiday town of Bilene. Along the shores of this vast expanse of water (8km wide and 27km long) lie pristine white sands and shallow waters, ideal for basking in the sun and swimming. The saline waters are the ideal feeding ground for flamingos which flock there during the summer together with other water birds across the lagoon. Hidden behind the rolling sand dunes are the unrelenting breakers of the Indian Ocean.
