Abu Dhabi
Abu Dhabi is the capital and second most populous city in the United Arab Emirates , after Dubai. Abu Dhabi city is on an island located less than 250 metres from the mainland and is joined to the mainland by the Maqta and Mussafah Bridges.

In 1760 AD, Bani Yas, a nomadic tribe, discovered water on the Island of Abu Dhabi and constructed their first township there. Founded in 1761 AD, Abu Dhabi later became the abode of the ruling Al-Nahyan family when they moved from Liwa in 1793 AD.

Sunny/blue skies can be expected throughout the year. The months of April through September are generally hot and humid. During this time, sandstorms also occur intermittently, in some cases reducing visibility down to a few meters. The weather is cooler from November to March. This period also sees dense fog on some days.

No visitor to Abu Dhabi should miss the opportunity to visit the expanse of desert that takes up the interior. Stretching as far as the eye can see, and otherworldly in appearance, particularly at sunset, a dune-bashing trip in a 4WD is unmissable.

Abu Dhabi is the best place to sample Arabic food. The most famous foods are mezzeh or the starters and salads. The other staple foods here are hummus, moutabel a dip made with roasted aubergines and sesame paste, tabbouleh salad made with chopped parsley, mint and crushed wheat, wara enab stuffed vine leaves, and koussa mahshi stuffed courgettes. Foods like grilled or roast meat, chicken and fish served with flavoured rice are a favorite food. The Ouzi, a whole roast lamb served on a bed of rice garnished with nuts and the matchbous, a spiced lamb and rice dish are usually served as a main food course. Desserts include - Umm ali, a rich bread pudding, muhalabiya, a milk pudding served with rose water and pistachios, and esh asariya, a sweet cheesecake.
